Injury Prevention #1: Couch Stretch
Starting today for a couple of days, we will be teaching, monitoring and tracking injury prevention on everyone at the box. This means, whatever we have taught you as to what you should be doing for warmup, foam roll and stretching, will be tracked by every trainer at the box. The first and the most important that will fix almost every issue you have with the squat, is called, the Couch Stretch. It looks just like below:
The goal is to free your hip so you can achieve a good squat with a straight torso and lumbar curve while maintaining heels on the ground. Every lift and metcon that we do involves, Hip Extension. So it is key for you to do this stretch before class starts.
